Soluble in fused alkalies, insoluble in acids except hydrofluoric and fuming sulfuric acids. Tensile strength of drawn wire may be as high as 130,000 psi. Refractive index 2.05.
Hazards: Dust or powder may be flammable. Moderately toxic by inhalation. Tolerance: 5 mg/m3 of air.
