V.   HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Effects of Exposure:

Eye Effects:  Irritant

Skin Effects:  Irritant

Other Toxic Effects:  A very large dose or prolonged exposure may cause fluorosis (bone damage), and kidney or liver damage.  Inhalation of dust may cause irritation of the respiratory tract, pulmonary edema, congestion and fluorosis (bone damage).

Target Organ Toxin:  Eye, Skin, Kidney, Liver, Lung, Bone.

Permissible Exposure Limits:  ACGIH TLV for fluorides as F-:  2.5 mg/m3.

 

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

EYES:  Flush with water for at least 15 minutes.  Seek medical attention.

SKIN:  Flush with water for at least 15 minutes.

INGESTION:  Dilute with milk, lime water or aluminum hydroxide.  Seek emergency medical attention immediately.  Treat with gentle lavage.  Multiple lumen tube suggested.  Monitor for cardiac arrhythmias.

INHALATION:  In case of respiratory difficulty, seek emergency medical attention.

 

 

VI.   REACTIVITY DATA

Stability:  Stable

Incompatibility (Material to Avoid):  Avoid contact with strong acids.

Hazardous Decomposition Thermal and Other:  Contact with acids may produce HF which is a highly toxic and corrosive material.  In the presence of moisture and heat it may generate HF fumes.

 

 

VII.   SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES

Steps to Be Taken in Case Material Is Released or Spilled:  Sweep or scoop up and remove.  Flush spill area with water.  Disposal should  be in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations.

Waste Disposal Method:  Dispose of with normal refuse.
